Drawing Competition by Southern Railway

Indian Railways is celebrating 160 years of service to the Nation. As a part of these celebrations, Southern Railway has organised a Drawing Competition for children of various schools. The competition is being held in 2 categories i.e. for children of 5thto 8th classes and children of 9th to 12thclasses. The Theme of the competition for classes 5th to 8thhas been o�n �Sweet and memorable experiences of train journeys or engines, coaches, local trains and railway stations and bridges� and for classes 9thto 12th has been o�n �Cleanliness at Railway Stations or Railways - A Symbol of National Integration�. The competition is being held at Railway Mixed Higher Sec. School, Perambur, Chennai. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of today�s event under the supervision of the Chief Personnel Officer, Southern Railway.
A large number of children from all over Tamil Nadu participated today in the competition braving the heavy downpour of rains lashing the city. In all, 231 children had participated in this first round of competition. The 15 selected children from each of the two age groups would be again participating in a final round scheduled to be held o�n 1st of December, 2013 at Chennai Central Railway Station where the first three winners in each of the two age groups would be selected.
The selection of qualifiers in today�s competition will be adjudged by an Independent Jury nominated by Govt. College of Fine Arts, Chennai.
