The Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (CMTC) has announced that electronic ticket machines (ETM) used in Chennai city buses are currently facing a technical glitch. Due to this issue, digital ticketing services have been temporarily suspended across the Chennai metropolitan bus network.
Digital Payment Services Affected
Passengers will not be able to use the following payment options until the issue is resolved:
- UPI payments
- NCMC (National Common Mobility Card)
- Chennai One App
- Debit cards
- Credit cards
The disruption has impacted cashless ticket booking systems, causing inconvenience to daily commuters who rely on digital transactions for bus travel in Chennai.
Printed Tickets Issued Temporarily
Until the technical problem is fixed, conductors will issue only printed paper tickets. Commuters are advised to carry exact change or sufficient cash while traveling on Chennai city buses.
CMTC officials have assured that efforts are underway to restore the ETM system at the earliest. Updates regarding the resumption of digital ticketing services will be shared through official channels.
