The Madhya Kailash flyover in Chennai is nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated soon, bringing relief to motorists traveling between Guindy, Kotturpuram, and OMR. The flyover is designed to streamline traffic flow, especially for vehicles moving from Guindy and Kotturpuram towards the IT corridor.
However, traffic experts and commuters have suggested additional measures to prevent congestion at the busy Gandhi Mandapam signal. One key recommendation is to introduce a compulsory left turn for vehicles coming from Kotturpuram, similar to the existing rule for traffic from the Anna University side. Only MTC buses would be allowed to take a right turn through a dedicated bus lane.
With new space available under the flyover near the Madhya Kailash junction, vehicles from Kotturpuram heading towards Guindy could use a designated U-turn instead of turning right at the signal. This change is expected to reduce signal delays, improve traffic flow, and prevent bottlenecks at one of Chennai’s most congested intersections.
