Chennai Metro Phase 2 Route 4 Safety Inspection | Poonamallee to Vadapalani Elevated Corridor

The safety inspection for Chennai Metro Phase 2 – Route 4 has officially commenced on the 14.64 km elevated corridor connecting Poonamallee Bypass to Vadapalani. This crucial inspection marks a major step toward launching metro services in the rapidly developing western parts of Chennai.

The inspection is being carried out by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, Ananth Madhukar Chowdhary, along with his technical team. The process includes detailed evaluation of elevated structures, metro stations, tracks, signaling systems, overhead electrification, passenger amenities, and emergency safety protocols.

A total of 11 metro stations are being inspected, including Poonamallee, Karayanchavadi, Kattupakkam, Ayyappanthangal, Porur Junction, and Vadapalani. Senior officials from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) are also participating in the review.

Boost for Western Chennai Connectivity

Once approved, this stretch of Chennai Metro Route 4 will significantly reduce traffic congestion along the Poonamallee–Porur corridor and provide faster connectivity to key commercial and residential hubs. The project is part of the larger Chennai Metro Phase 2 expansion aimed at improving urban mobility across the city.

With safety inspections underway, commuters can expect improved public transport infrastructure, reduced travel time, and enhanced convenience in the near future.
