ICF to Roll Out Automatic Door EMU Trains for Mumbai by April

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will roll out the prototype 15-car non-AC automatic door EMU trains for Mumbai suburban services by April. One rake each is being built for Western and Central Railways. These prototype trains will help assess performance before mass production.
The trains feature closed ventilation and loco pilot-controlled automatic doors, introduced following fatal overcrowding incidents in 2025.
Meanwhile, India’s first Gati Shakti freight train is set for rollout by March. Designed to run at 130 kmph, the project faced a three-month delay.
