The India Meteorological Department – Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast moderate rainfall at a few places in South Tamil Nadu and delta districts on Thursday (February 5).
According to the weather department, a lower atmospheric circulation over South Kerala and adjoining regions is influencing weather conditions. Due to this system, isolated moderate rain may occur in southern Tamil Nadu, delta districts, and Karaikal on Thursday.
Dry Weather Outlook
- From February 6 to February 10, dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Fog Alert in Interior Districts
The IMD has also issued a fog advisory:
- Moderate fog during early morning hours is likely from February 5 to February 10 in Nilgiris, Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet districts.
- In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on Thursday.
Fishermen Warning
Fishermen are advised to exercise caution as:
- Strong winds reaching speeds of up to 65 kmph may prevail along the South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and Kumari Sea on Thursday.
- Fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
