Gold and silver prices in Chennai declined further by the evening, extending the relief to buyers after a prolonged period of sharp increases.
As of 3:34 PM, the price of 22-carat gold dropped to ₹15,850 per gram, down by ₹350 from the morning rate of ₹16,200. 18-carat gold also slipped further, now trading at ₹13,300 per gram, a decrease of ₹200 from the morning price of ₹13,500.
Silver prices continued their downward trend as well. Silver is now priced at ₹405 per gram, down by ₹10 from the morning rate of ₹415.

Market observers say the continued decline through the day could encourage more customers to return to jewellery purchases, following the steep price surge seen in recent weeks.
