The famous Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple at Besant Nagar, Chennai, located close to the shores of Elliot’s Beach, is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi in her eight divine forms (Ashtalakshmi) representing wealth, courage, knowledge, food, fertility, victory, prosperity, and power.
The temple was built between 1974 and 1976 with the blessings of Kanchi Maha Periyava Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal. The unique multi-tiered architectural design allows devotees to worship all eight forms of Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu, making it one of the most spiritually significant temples in Tamil Nadu.
