Drinking water supply will be temporarily suspended in several parts of Chennai from January 30 to January 31, 2026, due to underground pipeline connection works carried out by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) at Uthamar Gandhi Salai, Nungambakkam, under the Teynampet zone.
As per official notification, piped water supply will remain suspended for 24 hours from 10:00 AM on January 30 to 10:00 AM on January 31, 2026 in selected areas falling under Zone 9 (Teynampet), Zone 10 (Kodambakkam), and Zone 13 (Adyar).
Residents are advised to store adequate drinking water in advance. In case of emergency, water can be requested through tanker services (Dial for Water) by registering on the official Chennai Metro Water website cmwssb.tn.gov.in.
Authorities have assured that water supply through tankers to unconnected and low-pressure areas will continue as usual without any disruption during the shutdown period.
