Northeast Monsoon Withdraws from Tamil Nadu; Frost Warning Issued for Hill Regions
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has announced that the Northeast Monsoon has withdrawn from Tamil Nadu on Monday.

According to an official weather bulletin, the Northeast Monsoon-which began in October 2025 - has withdrawn from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and adjoining parts of South India on Monday, January 19.
Weather Forecast till January 25
Following the monsoon withdrawal, dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from January 20 to January 25.
- Light morning fog may occur at isolated places during early hours
- Daytime conditions are expected to remain mostly stable
Frost Warning for Hill Areas
The weather department has issued a frost (ground frost) warning for hill regions.
- Nilgiris district
- Kodaikanal (Dindigul district)
Frost conditions are likely at isolated locations during the night of Tuesday (January 20) or the early morning hours of Wednesday (January 21).
Chennai Weather Update
In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy on Tuesday, with light mist or fog likely during early morning hours.
