Kanum Pongal 2026: Six Special MRTS Trains to Operate Between Velachery and Marina Beach

As part of Kanum Pongal celebrations on Saturday (January 17), a large number of people are expected to visit Marina Beach, one of the most popular festive destinations in Chennai.
To facilitate smooth travel for the public, railway authorities have announced the operation of six special MRTS train services between Velachery and Beach stations on Kanum Pongal day.
Special Train Timings
The special train services will operate on Saturday, January 17, from 1:30 PM to 6:50 PM, catering to the increased passenger demand during peak festival hours.
These additional services are aimed at reducing congestion, ensuring safer travel, and providing convenience to thousands of visitors heading to Marina Beach for Kanum Pongal celebrations.
