Gold and silver prices climbed further in the evening trade, continuing their upward momentum in the bullion market.
The price of 22-carat gold jewellery increased by ₹80 per gram, taking the rate to ₹12,760 per gram. With this rise, one sovereign of gold is now priced at ₹1,02,080.
Silver prices also edged up slightly. Silver gained ₹1 per gram, with the rate now standing at ₹266 per gram. Accordingly, one kilogram of silver is being sold at ₹2,66,000.
Market analysts attribute the sustained rise to strong global cues and investor demand, indicating that precious metal prices may remain firm in the near term.
