Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain to Continue for 7 Days; Heavy Rain Likely in Tirunelveli & Tenkasi Today
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, has announced that moderate rainfall will continue across Tamil Nadu for the next seven days, starting today (December 5). According to the forecast, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts are likely to receive heavy rain today due to prevailing weather conditions.
Atmospheric Circulation Over Southwest Bay of Bengal
A lower-level atmospheric circulation persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions.
Because of this system:
- Heavy rain is expected today in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi
- Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in a few places across Tamil Nadu
- Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive light to moderate showers
Rainfall Forecast for the Next 7 Days
From December 6 to December 11, Tamil Nadu is expected to experience:
- Moderate rainfall in isolated areas
- Thunderstorms at a few locations, especially during evening and night hours
