With inflow into Chembarambakkam Lake increasing steadily, authorities have raised the outflow of surplus water from 500 cusecs to 1,200 cusecs as a precautionary measure. The lake continues to receive around 100 cusecs of water due to ongoing rainfall in the catchment areas.
Current Storage Level
Chembarambakkam Lake, which has a total capacity of 3,645 million cubic feet (mcft), currently holds 3,048 mcft of water. As the water level approaches its maximum limit, officials have increased the discharge to ensure safe reservoir management.
Residents in downstream areas have been advised to stay alert and follow safety instructions issued by the district administration.
