Heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Titva has led to major disruptions in air travel from Chennai. Authorities have announced that 22 flights scheduled to depart from Chennai today (Nov. 29) have been cancelled.
Flights to Thoothukudi, Madurai, and Puducherry have been cancelled as the weather continues to worsen.
Cyclone Titva: Latest Position
Cyclone Titva has formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal, and the Chennai Meteorological Department has warned that the storm is moving towards Puducherry. The system is likely to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until November 30.
As of the latest update:
- The cyclone is 270 km southeast of Karaikal
- And 380 km southeast of Puducherry
The storm continues to intensify as it approaches the coastline, prompting authorities to issue travel advisories and safety guidelines for the public.
