TN Weatherman Predicts Coastal ‘Bypass Ride’ for Cyclone Titva

Posted on: 27/Nov/2025 10:14:07 PM

Cyclone Ditwah, which has formed over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to cross the coast near Chennai, according to the Meteorological Department. Tamil Nadu Weatherman Pradeep John explained -with a photo -that Cyclone Ditwah may travel along the Tamil Nadu coast like a “bypass rider,” similar to Cyclone Ogni that formed in 2006.

The low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Sri Lankan waters has intensified into a deep depression and will soon strengthen into Cyclone Ditwah. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Department said the system will move north–northwest across the southwest Bay of Bengal and the Sri Lankan coast, reaching the north Tamil Nadu -Puducherry -south Andhra Pradesh coastal region by the early hours of November 30.

Pradeep John, known for his accurate private weather forecasts and popular storm-tracking charts, stated that, just like Cyclone Ogni which moved along the coast before crossing near Chennai in 2006, Cyclone Ditwah will likely follow a similar coastal path before landfall.

“The wheel is going to travel along the Tamil Nadu coast as a bypass rider. Cyclone Ogni in 2006 returned to the coast in October 2006.”
