The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released its Q2 (2025–26) sales data, revealing significant shifts in India’s automotive market across states and vehicle categories.
Passenger Vehicles: Maharashtra on Top
A total of 10.39 lakh passenger vehicles were sold nationwide in Q2, with the western zone leading at 3.44 lakh units.
- Maharashtra topped the list with 1,31,822 units (12.7% share)
- Uttar Pradesh followed with 1,00,481 units (9.7%)
- Gujarat ranked third with 87,901 units (8.5%)
Commercial Vehicles: Maharashtra Again No. 1
India recorded 2.40 lakh commercial vehicle sales during the quarter, with the west zone contributing 92,000 units.
Top-performing states:
1st – Maharashtra: 37,091 units (15.5%)
2nd – Gujarat: 22,491 units (9.4%)
3rd – Uttar Pradesh: 19,009 units (7.9%)
4th – Tamil Nadu: 18,508 units (7.7%)
5th – Karnataka: 16,743 units (7%)
Two-Wheelers: UP Dominates the Segment
A total of 55.62 lakh two-wheelers were sold across India in Q2FY26. The western zone led with 19.33 lakh units.
- UP topped with 6,92,869 units (12.5% share)
- Maharashtra followed with 6,29,131 units (11.3%)
- Gujarat came third with 4,45,722 units (8%)
- Tamil Nadu stood fourth with 3,98,618 units (7.2%)
The SIAM data indicates that while Maharashtra continues to dominate the four-wheeler market, Uttar Pradesh retains its strong lead in two-wheeler sales, reflecting diverse consumer demand across regions.
