The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a second low-pressure system is likely to form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal on November 22. Currently, a low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka is moving slowly towards the Tamil Nadu coast.
Heavy Rainfall Forecast
Due to these systems, widespread moderate rain is expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with heavy showers likely in:
- Kanyakumari
- Tirunelveli
- Thoothukudi
- Ramanathapuram
- Sivaganga
- Virudhunagar
- Tenkasi
- Theni
Meanwhile, Chennai, Chengalpattu and nearby coastal districts may receive heavy rain starting November 21.
Fishermen Advisory
Strong winds are expected over South coastal Tamil Nadu, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin Sea, and fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
Recent Rainfall Highlights
Nagapattinam district recorded the highest rainfall with 12 cm, followed by several places in Mayiladuthurai and Ramanathapuram districts.
