Permission Mandatory for Temporary Flagpoles in Chennai: GCC

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that prior permission is now compulsory for installing temporary flagpoles across the city.
Flagpoles are often erected for political campaigns, meetings, rallies, processions, dharnas, and festivals, but the civic body has made it clear that all such installations must follow Disaster Management Department guidelines and obtain approval in advance.
The corporation also warned that any flagpoles set up without permission will be removed immediately without notice.
The move aims to ensure public safety and prevent unauthorized structures or traffic obstructions during public events in Chennai.
