The Tamil Nadu government has announced that 215 flood relief centers have been set up across Chennai to provide immediate assistance to people affected by the ongoing heavy rains.

In an official statement, the government said that due to the northeast monsoon, widespread rainfall is being experienced across Tamil Nadu. To support residents in affected areas, the Greater Chennai Corporation has established relief centers equipped with food, healthcare, and drinking water facilities.

A total of 106 central kitchens have been kept ready to supply food to these centers. Additionally, over 2,000 motor pumps of various capacities are on standby to remove stagnant rainwater from low-lying areas. The corporation is also maintaining 22 tunnels continuously to prevent waterlogging.

For complaints or assistance, the public can contact the toll-free number 1913, which has 150 extensions for faster response. Immediate action is being taken on complaints received through this number as well as on social media.

To manage the rain-related situation efficiently, 22,000 corporation officials, engineers, sanitation workers, and 2,149 field staff from the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) have been deployed and kept on alert.
