The price of gold, which has been fluctuating over the past few weeks, witnessed a sharp decline this morning, bringing relief to jewelry buyers.

On October 8, the price of one sovereign of gold crossed the ₹90,000 mark, and by October 17, it had surged past ₹97,000. However, the very next day, the rate dropped by ₹1,600 per sovereign. The day before yesterday, gold was sold at ₹95,360 per sovereign, down by ₹640.

Although the drop was initially attributed to Diwali sales, prices rebounded immediately after the festival. Over the past few days, gold rates have shown significant volatility, with frequent changes even within a single day.

Today, gold prices dropped sharply once again. The price of 22-carat gold fell by ₹300 per gram, selling at ₹11,700 per gram, and by ₹2,400 per sovereign, bringing the price to ₹93,600 per sovereign. Later, the rate declined further to ₹11,540 per gram (down by ₹160) and ₹92,320 per sovereign (down by ₹1,280).

As a result, gold prices have fallen by a total of ₹3,680 per sovereign, much to the delight of jewelry lovers.

Silver prices have also decreased. The rate of one gram of silver has dropped by ₹1.75, while one kilogram has decreased by ₹2,000, with bar silver now being sold at around ₹1,80,000 per kg.
