The NE monsoon in TN will begin between 16th and 18th October!!
On 16th October, SW monsoon is expected to withdraw from Tamil Nadu. It was mentioned by Chennai Meteorological centre south zone director Amutha that NE monsoon would begin in TN between 16th and 18th October.
She spoke about how IMD has issued a weather report for a 2 week period. As per that the SW monsoon that is currently falling in Kerala etc would withdraw on 16th or 17th October. She added that NE monsoon this year would begin between 16th and 18th October,.
The SW monsoon has been less in October till now and in the last 2 years only less rains have been received in October month.
It must be noted that the northern district in TN received normal to above normal rainfall but southern districts have received normal to below normal rainfall. For another 92 days, NE monsoon would be there in TN from the day of commencement. From October to December there would be rains in TN. Since 1st October just 50mm of rain has fallen and TN would have to receive 170mm of rain in October. On 11th October, there would be rains in 15 districts in Tamil Nadu and this would be as per the current weather system.
