Northeast Monsoon Likely to Begin in Tamil Nadu Between October 16 and 18 – IMD Report
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that there are strong possibilities of the northeast monsoon setting in over Tamil Nadu between October 16 and 18.
According to IMD officials, favorable atmospheric conditions are developing over the Bay of Bengal, which may lead to the onset of the monsoon during this period. The department also stated that several districts in Tamil Nadu may experience light to moderate rainfall ahead of the official onset.
Meteorologists added that the northeast monsoon plays a crucial role in bringing seasonal rainfall to southern India, particularly Tamil Nadu, which receives nearly 48% of its annual rainfall during this phase.
The IMD has advised farmers and the general public to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and to make necessary preparations for the upcoming monsoon season.
