The long time demand from Gold and Diamond jewellery industry regarding setting up of Gold and Diamond jewellery industrial park in Coimbatore would soon come to end.
Yesterday, the TN chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin grabbed many eyeballs when he laid the foundation stone for the above said park. Important piece of information is that this Gold and Diamond jewellery industrial park would be set up at a cost of Rs 126 crores.
It must be recalled that the demand regarding setting up of Gold and diamond jewellery industrial park in Coimbatore was again put forward by the dept to the chief minister of TN on 5th November 2024. After this, the chief minister personally visited Kempatti Colony in Coimbatore where there are many jewellery shops. He conducted inspections and listened to their grievances. The chief minister then announced that a gold and diamond jewellery industrial park would be set up in Coimbatore to benefit gold and diamond jewellery workers and jewellery shop owners etc. It is important to note that the preparatory work for this was carried out quickly.
About 40000 jewellery shops in Coimbatore having more than 1.5lakhs workers would benefit from the industrial park. The gold and diamond jewellery industrial park would be set up by SIDCO or TN Small Industries Development Corporation. It is known that SIDCO operates under the micro small medium enterprises department. The industrial park would be established in Kurichi in Coimbatore district and it would have 5 floors. An amount of Rs 126.12 cr would be spent for this with an initial cost of Rs 81.4 cr.
On 2.46 acres of land, the gold and diamond jewellery industrial park would be set up and it would have CCTV, security equipment and 350 workshops etc.
