Gold Prices Hit Record High in Chennai - Sovereign Crosses Rs 91,000
The price of 22-carat gold ornaments in Chennai has surged again today, increasing by ₹120 per sovereign. With this rise, a sovereign of gold is now being sold at ₹91,200, while the price per gram has climbed by ₹15 to ₹11,400.
Market analysts attribute the steady increase to heavy investments from international investors, which have pushed global gold prices to new highs. As a result, gold prices in India continue to rise day by day.
In Tamil Nadu, gold prices have been on a continuous upward trend over the past few days. On October 7, ornamental gold was sold at ₹11,200 per gram and ₹89,600 per sovereign. The next day, October 8, prices rose to ₹11,300 per gram and ₹90,400 per sovereign, while silver rates remained unchanged.
At today’s rate, gold has reached a record high above ₹91,000 per sovereign, while silver prices have increased by ₹1 per gram, selling at ₹171 per gram.
This marks one of the highest points for gold in Chennai’s recent history, reflecting both global economic uncertainty and growing investor confidence in the yellow metal.
