Important news!! No more caste names for streets, localities etc in TN!!
Roja, Malli, Suryagandhi and Sembaruthi etc!! Guess what these are?
These are not just the flower names but names of the water bodies hereafter in TN. Sound`s incredible right!!
Soon, the streets, localities, water bodies etc present across Tamil Nadu would have different names based on Tamil literary figures, leaders and flowers etc.
It is now mentioned that the caste names that has been present for the streets, localities etc would be replaced with leaders names or flowers names or Tamil literary figures etc by 19th of November
On 6th October, an order was issued by TN chief secretary Mr. N. Muruganandham. The order lists 16 names including Tiruvalluvar, Kabilar, Avvaiyar, Bharathiyar, Periyar and late former chief ministers like Annadurai, Karunanidhi etc for renaming roads with caste references.
It is learnt that names of various flower names like Roja, Malli, Sembaruthi and Suryagandhi etc would be given to the water bodies across TN as the government has proposed 15 flower names.
It must be recalled that on 29th of May the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin made an announcement regarding removing the name colony from the government records and public discourses etc. Now, the order from the TN chief secretary is based on this announcement.
By 14th October, district administrations must identify such places, and by 17th October hold consultations and receive petitions and by 24th October notify changes. By 14th November, the final list of names must reach the TN government and all the renaming must get completed by 19th of November.
It is worthy to note that once renaming gets over the collectors must facilitate record updates in Aadhar, community certificates, family cards and land documents to affected residents.
