Happy news for Chennai residents regarding re- opening of an eco-park with superb facilities!!

Don`t be surprised if you come across the entrance plaza, watch tower and visitor centre gallery etc at the Adyar eco-park in Chennai!!

The superb news is that the Adyar eco-park at Raja Annamalaipuram in south Chennai has been renovated at a cost of Rs 42 crores. This eco- park would be opened for the public use in another 10 days. This park is also known as Tholkappia Poonga.

It is worthy to note that this eco-park that is present on 58 acres of Adyar estuary has been totally renovated with new infrastructure such as entrance plaza, watch tower, visitor centre gallery and others like kids play area, open air theatre, walking tracks etc. Moreover, there would be a skywalk connection to Santhome road and CCTV surveillance etc also in the park.

On Wednesday, the TN chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin made his presence felt at this eco-park and planted a konrai sapling. He also asked the officials to make sure that the eco-park would be reopened for the public at the earliest. It was later confirmed by the TN health minister Mr. M. Subramanian that the eco-park would be reopened for public use in another 10 days.

It must be recalled that previously 100 acre area of the eco-park was restored at Rs 19cr by the TN government. Now, the remaining part of the eco-park has been readied.

Information is that the walkways on Quibble Island that were ignored for many years have been renovated also. It is now said that the restored stretch would contribute to environment education of the kids and leisure place for the public. Not many would know the fact that since inception as many as 329723 general visitors have visited the eco-park. The 3.2km walking track alone has attracted as many as 25528 fitness enthusiasts till now.
