With the construction of state-of-art citizen service centre at Kolathur, key public offices plus others like private workspaces and commercial areas would be brought under one single roof. Sounds incredible right!!
It must be recalled that for so many years SRO or Sub Registrar Offices and Tahsildhar offices etc operated in cramped rented premises in Kolathur region. The bitter fact is that these rented premises did not have citizen friendly amenities and parking spaces etc. This would change soon.
At an estimated cost of Rs 32 crores, CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has developed a project spread across 35962 sqft with a total built up area of 71580 sqft. It must be taken into note that this building has got basement and 5 floors and would integrate public offices, private workspaces and commercial areas etc.
As many as 45 cars can be parked at a time in the car parking space. Information gathered is that the ground floor would have Tahsildar`s office and a commercial block alongside parking of 120 two wheelers and 20 four wheelers. The first floor would have large Tahsildars office and additional commercial space. It is learnt that the second floor would have SRO and co-working space. Modern business requirements would be supported by this. Private offices would be present on the third and fourth floors. For both safety and functionality sake, the centre would have a reception area, elevators, air-conditioning, restrooms, emergency exits etc.
