Vande Bharat day time train service between Chennai and Rameswaram!!
This latest decision taken by the Southern Railways or SR would be bringing huge delight on the faces of many.
The news is that SR has decided to introduce Vande Bharat trains between Chennai and Rameswaram. To run a new day time VB train from Egmore or Tambaram, a proposal has been submitted also. It is known that train services are not operated along this route during the day time.
The railway officials have mentioned that there are 3 daily trains and 4 weekly trains running as night services and these include Sethu SuperFast and Boat Mail Express. The congestion in these trains would come down if VB trains runs along this route.
To run electric locomotives, the entire 53km between Ramanathapuram and Rameswaram has been electrified. Near the Parundu Naval Air station near Uchipuli railway station, there was a gap of about 220m without overhead power cables. Still, no decision has been taken regarding the final route for the introduction of the VB train.
