Action to be taken against those persons taking platform passes and waiting for a long time in Chennai Central railway station!!
Waiting with the platform passes inside the Chennai Central railway station for a long duration of time? Then you could be in trouble and would be punished!! So, please be careful.
The news now is that the RPF or Railway Police Force would take legal action against those who wait for a long time with platform passes at the Central railway station.
It was later explained by Mr. P. Madhusudana Rewddy, inspector of Chennai Central Railway Protection Force that both electric trains as well as express trains are operated from the Chennai Central railway station. He added that every day about 3lakhs of passengers and the public come to this important railway station in Chennai. Facilities like transportation etc have been provided to these people.
From the northern states in India, recently people above the age of 18 and above the age of 60 have been coming to Chennai by trains. These persons have been given protection by RPF after they have arrived and they have been handed over to the concerned authorities.
It is learnt that in 2024 as many as 162 children were rescued from the Central railway station and in 2025 85 children have been rescued. Not only the passengers but also the common public sleep in the Central railway station during night.
It must be taken into account that there are many people who come to General Hospital or GH opposite to the Central railway station and take passes at the Central station and wait /sleep in the station. Hereafter, this won`t be allowed and these persons with passes at the Central railway station would be fined.
It must be noted that only those who travel by trains would be allowed to stay in the Central railway station.
