Merging of SSN College of Engineering and Shiv Nadar University in Chennai!!

An autonomous engineering college functioning under the prestigious University is SSN College of Engineering or Sri Sivasubramanya Nadar College of Engineering. This college is one of the top engineering colleges in Chennai and across the state of Tamil Nadu. It must be noted that this SSN College of engineering has applied for progressive closure from the next academic year that is from 2026-27.
It is now said that this SSN College of Engineering would be merged with Shiv Nadar University in a phased manner. Shiv Nadar University is located adjacent to the SSN College of engineering is well known. From the next academic year onwards, Shiv Nadar University would conduct admissions for B. Tech and M. Tech degree courses. Those students who want to study in Shiv Nadar University would have to appear for the entrance exam plus an interview for the sake of admission.
SSN College of Engineering till now fills 65percent of its seats through online counselling based on the marks obtained by the students in the class12 public examinations. The subjects like mathematics, chemistry and physics are being taken into consideration for admission is known. For government quota seats, the students pay Rs 55000 as tuition fees.
It was brought out by a source from AU or Anna University that for the current academic year 2025-26 the SSN College of engineering enrolled as many as 900 students in the first year. These students would graduate from AU after studying for the next 4 years.
In 1996, SSN College of Engineering was established by Mr. Shiv Nadar who is founder and chairman of HCL Technologies. It is sensational to mention that this college became famous with its state-of-art- facilities on its 230 acre campus on OMR in Kalavakkam in Chennai.

According to an official from AU it was clear that the university received the application for progressive closure of SSN College of Engineering from the next academic year onwards. He spoke about how after getting a no-objection certificate from the state government, the university would give permission.
