IIT-Madras on TOP - State of Tamil Nadu topping the list of best higher educational institutions!!
The state of TN has now added one more feather to its cap!!
Studying in the higher educational institutes in TN would be amazing for the students. The news that has come out now is that Tamil Nadu has topped the overall ranking of having the best higher education institutions or HEI across India.
It is important to mention here that TN state has got as many as 17 HEI in the top 100 followed by Maharashtra state with 11 HEI. In the top 100, UP state has got as many as 9 HEIs.
It is sensational to note that for the 7th consecutive year IIT-M or Indian Institute of Technology- Madras has topped the national ranking for best HEIs across India. Bengaluru based IISC is second and is followed by IIT- Delhi.
On Thursday, 4th September, 10th ranking for 2025 was released by the Ministry for Higher education. It is known that the Ministry for Higher Education has been publishing NIHE or national institutes of higher education rankings for the best HEI in India to create a healthy competition among the HEI`s across the country.
Factors such as learning teaching practices and resources etc were taken into account while ranking the various HEIs in India. Under these 17 categories, ranking list for HEIs is published and the categories are overall ranking of HEI, rankings of universities, colleges, research institutes, engineering educational institutions, management institutes, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, law, architecture and planning, agriculture and similar categories, new innovations, open universities, skill development universities, state public universities and educational institutions with sustainable development goals.
Various HEI`s in TN that has made it to top 100 in the ranking list are Amrita Viswa Vidyapeeth in Coimbatore ranked 17th, VIT Vellore ranked 21st, SRM Institute of Engineering and Technology in Chennai at 22nd, Savitha Institute of Medical and Technological Sciences at 23rd, Anna University or AU at 29th, nit Trichy at 30th etc.
Information gathered is that 8 TN medical colleges are present in the top 100 best HEI in India. Delhi based AIIMS is ranked one followed by Chandigarh based IPMER and CMC Vellore is third in the list. At the 16th place is MMC in Chennai.
In the engineering field IIT-M has been ranked number one now. A total of 14 engineering colleges from TN are present in the top 100 list. In the arts and sciences college category, as many as 33 colleges from TN are present in the top 100 now.
