It is well known that IIT-M or Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is one of the premier educational institutions across India and it is not easy to get a seat in IIT-M.
In 2022, under the IIT for All Scheme, online courses like BS in Data Sciences, Electronic Systems etc were introduced. At IITM, a special entrance exam for the courses is being held. Now, the school education department is making huge efforts to enrol more government school students in these amazing courses as there would be lots of job opportunities for these courses in the future.
For the students appearing in the course, the examination fee sis paid by the TN government. Moreover, if the annual salary of the parents of the students who get selected for these courses is less than one lakh then IIT itself would provide about 75percent of the tuition fees. The remaining 25 percent of the fees would be paid by the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation for SC and ST student category. Other category students need to pay only 25percent of the tuition fees.
From the year 2022 onwards, as many as 353 government school students have benefited from the scheme. It is learnt that 170 students have appeared for the qualifying examination this year. Point is that 28 students have passed the qualifying exam and have joined IITM.
