New Order!! College Road in Nungambakkam to be renamed as Jaishankar Road!!
If there was one actor in the Tamil film industry who challenged even the legendary actors like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan etc in the 60s and 70s decades, then it was none other than Thenagathu James Bond or Makkal Kalaignar Mr. Jaishankar.
Mr. Jaishankar was a sensational actor with an amazing screen presence in the Tami films in the 60s and 70s. He then excelled in the villain roles also in the 80s. Many of his films were blockbuster hits is known. Even after passing away, Mr. Jaishankar, the actor and humanitarian still continues to remain in our hearts. This is now proved by the latest order from the TN government.
It is learnt that the TN government has issued an order to name the College Road in Nungambakkam after actor Jaishankar.
An order was issued by Mr. T. Karthikeyan who is the principal secretary of Municipal Administration and Drinking Water Supply. As per the order, Mr. Vijayshankar son of late actor Mr. Jaishankar had written a letter to CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin explaining the fact that actor Jaishankar lived in College Road in Nungambakkam from 1964 to 2000. He requested the road to be renamed as Jaishankar Road in his memory.
A petition was also filed by Mr. Vijayshankar at the Corporation Commissioner office regarding renaming College Road as Jaishankar Road. It is learnt that based on this resolution a request was made to the TN govt on the behalf of the Corporation Commissioner to take action regarding name change.
It has been revealed by the order that in accordance with Commissioners request the Corporation has been granted permission to rename College Road in Nungambakkam as Jaishankar Road.
