The sources from Integral Coach Factory or ICF in Chennai have informed that first mixed air-conditioned and non air-conditioned rake or Amrit Barat or AB 3.0 trains would be manufactured at ICF in the month of November. It is known that the first AB service was flagged off on 30th December 2023.
Point to be noted is that the AB 3.0 train is now in the design stage and it would have all the futures similar to the current version of AB 2.0 trains with air-conditioned coaches. It is learnt that the train would have a maximum speed of 130kmph and it would have general, sleeper and a/c coaches just like the express trains.
In January 2024, AB trains were launched by the Indian Railways to provide quality travelling as an alternative to Vande Bharat or VB trains with non-a/c coaches. Truth is that the ticket fares in the AB trains are affordable for common people. There are 22 coaches in the trains (20 for passengers and 2 for parcels).
It was later brought out by Mr. U. Subba Rao, GM of ICF in Chennai that ICF would manufacture the current version of 21 AB trains in the current FY.
Various features of AB trains:
The AB trains would have seats and berths just similar to that of VB trains. The AB trains would also have jerk free semi-automatic couplers, CCTVs, improved toilet designs, ladders, LED light fittings, charging sockets, emergency talk back system etc.
