Super news!! Breakfast scheme extended now - All TN govt aided primary schools to benefit by this!!
All eyes would be on the chief minister of TN on 26th of August 2025.
The scheme that began in the month of September in the year 2022 at a corporation school in Madurai has expanded now in Tamil Nadu. This scheme is making amazing news now. The scheme mentioned here is the Chief Ministers Breakfast scheme.
On 26th August, the chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin would launch the next phase of this superb scheme and this scheme would be extended to all government aided primary schools in the state.
It must be taken into account that the expansion would cover as many as 2430 govt aided schools and it would be of huge benefit for about 3.05lakh students studying in the classes 1 to 5.
The chief minister would be making his presence felt at the Mylapore based St Joseph Primary School. Here, he would be extending the breakfast scheme.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the scheme has reached 30992 government aided schools covering 18.5lakh students across TN. By July 2024, another 2.23 lakh school students were added to this scheme.
As per a state based survey, it was found that the attendance in the schools increased significantly due to this breakfast scheme plus better recall over 90% of the students. The issue of malnutrition among the school students has also come down.
Note:
The breakfast scheme model in TN has been responsible for similar such schemes in Telangana and in other states also in India. It is surprising to mention that Canada has adopted this scheme nationally.
