As there is a possibility of formation of a low pressure along the north-west and adjoining central west Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are likely to occur in the northern districts in Tamil Nadu. This was mentioned by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai.
Yesterday, at many places in TN, there were rains due to the intensity of the SW monsoon. In most places in north TN and in few places in the interior districts in south TN there was rain yesterday.
In Particular, one or two places in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Pudukottai etc received heavy rains yesterday. In this scenario, there is upper atmosphere air circulation present over north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining places. Tomorrow, in the north- west and adjoining central Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area is expected to form. As a result, there is a possibility of thundershowers at few places in north TN and few places in south TN.
As heavy rains are likely to occur at one or two places in Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, Thirupathur and Nilgiris districts etc, Orange alert has been issued also. It is mentioned that this situation is likely to persist until 17th August.
