Chennaites to have a wet week

Heavy rain showered many parts of the city on Sunday. More than 70% of the state received rainfall on Sunday. It will continue on Monday as well and northeast monsoon will be declared by Tuesday.
The city recorded about 2cm rainfall on Sunday evening, and 1.2cm in the morning. The maximum temperature was a degree below normal at 30.6C. Pondicherry recorded 3.3cm of rain, while Madurai district, which has been receiving heavy rainfall over the past few days, recorded 8.8cm. Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Palayamkottai and Parangipettai districts also received more than 1cm of rainfall.
