Yesterday, 31st July was an important day for the engineering aspirants across Tamil Nadu.
It is learnt that DOTE or Directorate of Technical Education provided provisional and tentative allotment to about 60000 engineering aspirants in the second round of counselling.
From 26th July to 31st July, the second round of counselling was held for those students with cut-off marks between 178.9 and 143. It was brought out by an official from DOTE that in total 98564 aspirants took part in the counselling. This included general category and 7.5percent horizontal quota for government school students also. He mentioned that just 80363 students have filled their courses and colleges and 14828 government school students seeking 7.5% reservation have also filled up their choices.
Important piece of information is that as many as36921 students have been provided with provisional allotment of engineering seats. These students would be joining their respective colleges. Upward movement or other choices were preferred by 15461 students of general category.
It must be taken into account that the number of provisional allotments given for government school students was 6235.Tenative allotments have been issued to as many as 2748 students and they have also opted for upward movement or other choices. On 7th August, the final provisional allotment list would be released. It is now mentioned that from 7th August, third and final round of counselling would be held for those students with cut-off marks between 143 and 77.5.
