In a major step toward reducing traffic congestion in South Chennai, a new 3-kilometre, 3-lane flyover has been proposed on Velachery Main Road. The elevated corridor will begin near the Sardar Patel Road junction and extend up to the Velachery Bypass.
This key infrastructure project aims to decongest some of the busiest junctions in the area, which experience severe traffic snarls during peak hours. Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly reduce travel time for commuters heading towards major hubs like Guindy, Taramani, and OMR.
The plan has been welcomed by local residents and commuters, who have long demanded a permanent solution to Velachery`s traffic woes.
