The weather in Chennai has been cool and pleasant with rains in between is known.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC in Chennai, there would be heavy rains till 28th July.
It was later brought out by a statement from RMC that yesterday rains have occurred in few places across Tamil Nadu due to the westerly winds. The rains occurred especially in the hilly areas of Coimbatore district, Nilgris, Theni, Tenkasi, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts etc. In those areas, an orange alert has been issued. It is noteworthy that an upper atmospheric air circulation has been present over the southern Odisha and its adjacent places. Moreover, there is an upper air circulation present over the southern parts of India.
As a result, there would be light to moderate rains (with thunder and lightning) in few places across Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains are likely to occur today in the hilly regions of Nilgiris district and Coimbatore district. Till 28th July, the same situation is likely to continue.
