The meteorologists have confirmed that the atmospheric circulation that has been present over the Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression. As a result, there would be heavy rains along the northern coastal districts in Tamil Nadu from today 17th till 21st July.
It is worthy to mention that in Kerala state rains started yesterday. As a result, there were rains in Nilgiris district, Valparai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Theni districts in TN. The rains would intensify till Kanniyakumari. Point is that rains have also started to fall in the districts like Chennai, Tirupathur, Ranipet, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Kallakurichi etc.
The meteorologists have mentioned that in the month of July in TN there would be rains and it would be unprecedented. There would be sudden rains and the rains would last till 21st of July. Until the end of this month, the rains would continue in the northern coastal districts of TN.
According to a statement from the RMC in Chennai, yesterday 11 districts in TN such as Coimbatore district, Theni district, Tenkasi district, Nilgris district received rains. The temperature increased by 3degrees to 5 degrees Celsius above the normal in the districts of Karur, Madurai and Vellore etc. The temperature increased by 3 degrees above the normal in the districts of Chennai, Cuddalore, Nilgris, Kanniyakumari, Nagai, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruvallur, Thoothukudi and Rmanathapuram etc.
Today, there are chances of heavy rains in the districts like Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Chennai and this could be due to the change in the speeds of the westerly winds.
There would be heavy rains (on 18TH July) in the districts like Coimbatore (Hilly regions), Nilgris, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram. In these districts, an orange alert has been given. There could be rains of 15cm to 20cm, in the above districts.
It must be noted that the rains could continue in these districts till 22nd July. Today, there could be an increase in the maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celius in TN and in Puducherry, Chennai temperature could be up to 100 degrees.
