A new high-tech council hall with a seating capacity of 300 members will soon be constructed at the historic Ripon Building, the headquarters of the Greater Chennai Corporation. The new hall, estimated to cost ₹77.25 crore, will be built behind Amma Maligai after demolishing old structures. It will complement the heritage architecture and is expected to be completed in 24 months. A statue of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will also be installed in the new complex.
