Sudden Showers Likely in Chennai Today After Sizzling Heat
After a scorching day with strong offshore winds blocking the sea breeze, Chennai may experience sudden showers today, offering some relief from the intense heat.
On Monday night, the temperature remained unusually high at 35°C at 8 PM, indicating a complete lack of sea breeze. However, today the breeze has finally entered the northern parts of the city, triggering pop-up thunderstorm formations.
According to Tamil Nadu Weatherman, the interaction between the sea breeze and these developing storms could intensify rainfall by adding moisture to the atmosphere.
Today is expected to be one of the peak hot days of the season. From tomorrow, temperatures are likely to drop slightly by 1 to 2°C from the current 39°C levels.
