Counselling for admission to BE/B. Tech degree courses began yesterday!!

Yesterday, 7th of July 2025, the counselling for engineering admissions began.

It must be recalled that on 7th May, notification regarding admission for students who have applied to study BE and B. Tech degree courses in AU or Anna University and its affiliated colleges for the academic year 2025-26 was published. On 7th May, applications were received online and the deadline for submission of the applications was 9th of June 2025.

On 11th of June, random numbers were published and till 20th of June certificate verification process was carried out. On 27th June, the rank list was published is known. It was also announced that the counselling for engineering admissions would start on 7th of July.

In this situation, the counselling for engineering began yesterday as planned. It must be taken into note that there are about 2lakhs govt quota seats in the BE, B. Tech courses in 445 govt and private engineering colleges affiliated to AU. About 302374 students have uploaded their applications for admission in the academic year 2025-26. Of those, 2050298 have paid their fees and 2lakhs 26 thousand have uploaded their certificates.. Point is that 241641 students are eligible to join BE and B. Tech degree courses in TN for this academic year. As many as 239299 students are eligible under general category and 2342 for vocational education.

Yesterday at 10am in the morning, the counselling for those students who have studied from class 6 to class 12 in Tamil medium in the govt schools across TN began. This was under the 7.5% special quota. About 516 students including differently able, sports students, ex servicemen descendents etc were invited to take part in the counselling.

For the special category including differently able students, ex servicemen descendents and sportsmen etc, counselling would be carried out from 9th to 11th.

From 14th to 19th July, general counselling would be held online for general education, vocational education and 7.5% government school quota students etc. From 21st to 23rd August, supplementary counselling would take place online. On 25th and 26th August, counselling for SCA vacancies and SC category students would be held.
