How would you feel if you came to know that of all the big cities in India Chennai provides the highest salaries for the fresh graduates? Sounds incredible right!!
In the recent study conducted by Indeed India (Global employment social media platform) Chennai has topped the list of cities that provides the highest salaries for the newbies.
What was the study about?
In the study, about 3842 people including 1311 company owners were asked their opinions. It was later brought out by the report that there has been a significant change in the salary structure across India. As per the study, the new graduates or fresher`s were paid more in Chennai than in other major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc.
Important piece of information is that the average monthly salary for those new graduates with 0 to 2 years of experience working in Chennai is Rs 30100. It is learnt that those who join the job as software development and software engineers as freshers earn a monthly salary of Rs 25000 to Rs 30500.
In other big cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore etc this average monthly salary is Rs 28500, Rs 26300, Rs 27400 and Rs 28400 respectively. The middle level employees with 2 to 5 years experience would get the highest salary of Rs 47200 per month in Hyderabad. In this category, the middle level employees get a salary of Rs 46600 in Chennai. In the same manner, Hyderabad also ranks first in providing high salaries for senior level employees with work experience of 5 to 8 years and that is Rs 69700 per month. The senior level employees in Chennai get Rs 66400 per month in Chennai.
It was later explained by Indeed India sales head, Mr. Sashikumar that the salary range has been changing constantly. He spoke about how the youngsters prefer those cities where salary would commensurate with cost of living and growth. Bitter fact is that 96% of employees working in Delhi have mentioned that they don`t get salaries proportional to the cost of living. In the same manner, 95% employees in Mumbai, 94% in Pune and 93% in Bangalore feel that they do not get salaries proportional to the cost of living in those cities.
In metropolitan cities like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata etc the salaries of employees commensurate with the cost of living. Truth is that despite these disparities 7 out of 10 employees are reluctant to move to other cities for emotional and practical reasons. Shifting from one city to another is also low due to kid education and family situations etc
Information technology provides the highest salary for its employees and it dominates the salary spectrum. The average salary for the beginners in this field is Rs 28600 per month. Next is the manufacturing sector that prprovides a salary of Rs 28300 per month. Telecom sector provides Rs 28100 per month as salary and e-commerce sector provides Rs 27700 per month as salary for the beginners.
