In view of the upcoming auspicious days, the airfares have been increased several times on 11th and 12th July.
It must be noted that 13th and 14th July are the last days of the week after weekend holidays and many would be interested to go to their hometowns.
As the train bookings have come to an end now, the public have left with no other options except travelling through flights to their native places. On 11th and 12th of July, the airfares have been increased many times in the domestic flights and this has grabbed the attention. It is really shocking to note that the airfares from Chennai to Madurai on Friday have increased by 4 times.
Normally, the airfare from Chennai to Madurai would be Rs 4000 per person and now the airfare has been increased to Rs 13000 to Rs 16000 per person on this route. From Rs 5360, the Chennai- Thoothukudi airfare has been increased to Rs 8360 to Rs 10993 per person.
In the same way, the airfare from Chennai to Coimbatore (Rs 3500 per person)has been increased to Rs 6500 to Rs 10500 now per person. The Chennai- Kochi airfare has increased to Rs 10500 from Rs 3500 per person. From Rs 5150 per person, the Chennai-Trivandrum flight fare has been increased to Rs 11200 now.
Passengers have requested the govt to take measures to prevent increase in the airfares during festivals or auspicious days or holidays etc
