Rains with gusty winds or soorai kaatru in TN due to changes in the speeds of westerly winds!!
Low pressure area that is present over eastern and central Bay of Bengal is moving north and northwest. There are rains now in northern districts in TN and Western Ghats due to the change in the speeds of westerly wind. Heavy rainfall has been falling over the last 2 days in the districts of Coimbatore and Nilgris. In the districts of Tirunelveli and Thhoothikudi, the temperature has increased up to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.
It must be taken into account that the temperature has decreased by 3 degrees Celsius above normal in Chennai, Tirupathur and Karaikal etc. The temperature has decreased up to 5 degrees Celsius above normal in Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Salem and Thiruvallur districts.
At one or more places belonging to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas today, light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning would occur. Point to be noted is that a strong gusty wind would blow at speeds of 50kmph in one or two places. Today, there is some possibility of rains in one or two hilly areas of Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts etc. From tomorrow till 9th July, rain with thunder and lightning would occur at one or two places.
