In a significant move towards inclusive governance, the Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that differently-abled persons can now apply to become nominated members of the Corporation Council.
As per a press release issued by the Corporation on Monday, this initiative follows the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s directive to provide appropriate representation to differently-abled individuals in local bodies through nomination a move that has also been legislated.
Accordingly, applications are now open for the appointment of two differently-abled members one male and one female to the Greater Chennai Corporation Council.
Interested candidates can download the application form from the official Chennai Corporation website from Tuesday, July 1, to July 17. The completed application must be submitted in person or by post to the Commissioner of Chennai Corporation by 3:00 PM on July 17 (Thursday).
