Natural Gas distribution to homes in Chennai through pipelines - Whats happening now?

Soon, a project to distribute gas to the homes in 8 locations in Chennai through pipelines would be implemented.
It must be taken into account that the central govt has given approval to 7 companies to develop infrastructure in all the districts in TN to provide natural gas supply through pipelines.
It is learnt that AG & P Pratham has been granted approval to develop the above infrastructure for 6 districts in TN namely Vellore, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Thirupathur and Ramanathapuram.
Information gathered is that the company would carry out the work of supplying natural gas by means of pipelines to as many as 222 distribution stations and to about 7lakhs homes in the next 8 years.
It must be recalled that previously the union environment ministry had approved a project to supply natural gas through pipelines to homes in Chennai. To carry out the work of setting up of gas stations at 8 locations in Chennai, TIDCO has been issued permission.
Point to be noted is that out of 27 locations that had requested permission to implement the project as many as 8 locations have been granted permission. A resolution has been passed by the GCC.
The project to supply natural gas through pipelines to the homes present in locations like Neelankarai, Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar, Chepauk, Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Tiruvottiyur and Ennore would be implemented. This would be based on the recommendations of the TN Coastal Surveillance Authority.
